K-9 Finn, a 14-month-old yellow Labrador Retriever trained in Minnesota, has been sworn in as Cass County Sheriff’s Office’s first Community Outreach Comfort Dog, working with Deputy Jolene Fletcher to provide emotional support during crises, community events, and traumatic incidents.
Funded by local donors and organizations, the program aims to strengthen trust between law enforcement and residents, particularly during calls involving children or emotional distress.
Finn has already helped soothe a distressed child during a medical emergency, and the sheriff’s office plans to expand his presence across the county while evaluating the program’s impact on both the public and first responders.
