JSW Steel begins developing Mozambique’s Minas de Revuboè coking coal mine to boost steel production and secure supply chains.
JSW Steel has started developing the Minas de Revuboè coking coal mine in Mozambique’s Moatize basin, aiming to produce 2.4 million tonnes of hard coking coal annually within 2.5 years.
Backed by 850 million tonnes of reserves, the project could yield up to 250 million tonnes of usable coking coal.
The mine supports JSW’s goal to reach 50 million tonnes of steel capacity by 2030, reducing reliance on volatile global markets and strengthening supply chain resilience.
Located near India, the site offers logistical advantages, lowering shipping costs and time.
The Mozambican government has welcomed the investment as a step toward building a world-class mining asset.
