Jonathan Wade Sumter, 54, of Greer, South Carolina, was sentenced to 80 months in prison for orchestrating a $1.8 million fraud scheme using fake companies to obtain Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loan funds during the pandemic.
He and his twin brother Jason Sumter, along with Gerothia McCullough, submitted false applications with fabricated documents, splitting the illicit proceeds.
Sumter’s sentence runs concurrently with a prior 92-month term for health care fraud.
Jason received three years in prison and was ordered to pay $739,786 in restitution and forfeit property.
McCullough was sentenced to 12 months and must pay $478,366 in restitution and forfeit a 2018 GMC Canyon.
The case was investigated by the SBA and IRS.
