Jharkhand BJP leader Babulal Marandi accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of failing to curb LPG black marketing, alleging Soren’s associates are involved in illegal distribution, despite no nationwide shortage. He cited the recovery of 55–56 filled cylinders in Uttar Pradesh as evidence of illicit trade aimed at creating panic. Prime Minister Modi is reportedly monitoring the situation closely. Congress MP K Suresh disputed official claims, saying fuel shortages have forced hotels and businesses to shut down. The crisis stems from global energy disruptions tied to the West Asia conflict. In response, the Union government invoked the Essential Commodities Act to prioritize LPG for households, hospitals, and essential services, restricting commercial use in some areas.
