The charge, ranging from ₹425 to ₹2,300 per sector, varies by route and aims to offset soaring fuel costs, which account for nearly 40% of airline expenses. The airline said the surcharge is a modest step to manage financial strain without imposing larger fare hikes, following similar moves by Air India and Air India Express.
