The instrument, used on Pink Floyd’s seminal recordings and tours, was part of the late Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay’s rock memorabilia collection.
The auction raised $21.5 million total, with proceeds going to the environmental charity ClientEarth.
Other notable sales included Cobain’s Fender Mustang for $6.9 million and Gilmour’s Tiger Stratocaster for $11.5 million.
Irsay, who died in May 2025, had championed public access to music history through an interactive touring museum.
Gilmour praised the sale’s purpose, emphasizing the urgent need to combat the climate crisis.
