Air India and Air India Express move all Guwahati flights to new Terminal 2 on March 16, 2026, boosting regional aviation links.
Air India and Air India Express will move all flight operations from Terminal 1 to the newly opened Terminal 2 at Guwahati’s Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport starting March 16, 2026.
The relocation will consolidate 38 daily flights, including inaugural arrivals from Delhi and Kolkata.
Designed by architect Nuru Karim, the terminal features over 140 metric tonnes of bamboo and draws inspiration from Assam’s kopou phool orchid, earning the International Architecture Award 2025.
The airport, operated by AAHL’s subsidiary GIAL, serves 21 domestic and three international destinations, handling over 130 aircraft movements daily.
The upgrade aims to strengthen Guwahati’s role as a regional aviation hub connecting Northeast India with mainland India and Southeast Asia.
Ground staff will assist passengers during the transition.
