Adam Corcoran, 31, denies murdering his partner Daena Walsh, 27, a mother of two, whose body was found with multiple stab wounds and a partially amputated arm in their Midleton apartment on August 2, 2024, and also denies starting the fire that damaged the home.
Corcoran told gardaí he considered Walsh his “soulmate” and “best friend,” claiming she died by suicide despite forensic evidence linking him to the crime, including bloodstains on two knives and his clothing matching Walsh’s DNA.
He was found intoxicated at arrest, with slurred speech and a cut eye, and deemed unfit for interview for six hours.
The trial continues at the Central Criminal Court in Cork before Judge Siobhan Lankford.
