A woman crashed her minivan into a Jeep on I-80, killing the driver and was arrested on homicide and drug charges.
A fatal crash on I-80 west of North Platte, Nebraska, killed one person and led to the arrest of 49-year-old Jacqueline Hoggatt of Lancaster, California, on suspicion of motor vehicle homicide, marijuana possession, and drug paraphernalia.
The incident occurred at about 10:20 a.m. Thursday when Hoggatt’s minivan rear-ended a Jeep Wrangler, causing it to roll into the south ditch and kill its driver, whose identity remains undisclosed.
Hoggatt’s vehicle crossed the median, traveled through westbound lanes, and came to rest in the north ditch.
She was treated at Great Plains Health, released, and arrested.
The Nebraska State Patrol is conducting a full crash reconstruction.
Evacuation orders due to wildfires in the area have been lifted.
