Starting in 2026, Irish taxpayers can claim 20% tax relief for pharmacist consultations and treatments under the Common Conditions Service, which covers eight common conditions like urinary tract infections, cold sores, and conjunctivitis.
The expansion, announced by Tánaiste Simon Harris and Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, allows pharmacists—over 94% of whom have joined—to provide diagnosis, treatment, and prescriptions, reducing pressure on GPs.
While the change will be formalized in the upcoming Finance Bill, an interim Revenue administrative practice enables immediate claims.
The move aligns pharmacist services with existing tax relief for GP visits and prescriptions, supporting the government’s goal of expanding pharmacists’ roles in primary care.
