Sesame Workshop sued SeaWorld over unpaid royalties, park closure, and false brand claims, seeking agreement termination and damages.
Sesame Workshop has sued SeaWorld in Manhattan federal court, alleging the theme park operator breached their 45-year licensing agreement by failing to pay royalties since September 2024, closing Sesame Place San Diego, and making false claims about Sesame Workshop’s brand investment.
The lawsuit, filed March 12, 2026, seeks termination of the agreement and damages, citing harm to the brand’s reputation and family trust.
It follows a 2024 arbitration ruling ordering SeaWorld to pay over $11 million, which was only settled in October 2025.
United Parks & Resorts, SeaWorld’s parent company, has not commented.
