A Perth woman says police ignored her pleas before being strangled by her ex-partner in Feb 2024, leading to a trial where he denies attempted murder.
A Perth woman testified in Western Australia’s Supreme Court that she repeatedly sought police help before being allegedly strangled by her ex-partner, Mihael Vrhovsek, in February 2024, claiming officers told her they couldn’t intervene despite her fears.
She described months of abuse, stalking, and over 200 threatening messages, including claims he’d kill himself “but the hatred towards you is keeping me alive.” After he slept in his car in her building’s basement, she reported him, but police said they couldn’t enter private property.
Hours later, she was attacked outside her apartment, choked unconscious, and hospitalized.
CCTV and a triple-zero call captured the assault.
Vrhovsek denies attempted murder, citing sleep deprivation, hormone use, and missing medication, and says he doesn’t remember the incident.
The trial continues.
