At the 61st UN Human Rights Council session, the Patiala Foundation urged global recognition of road safety as a fundamental human right, stressing its link to life, health, and dignity, especially for pedestrians, cyclists, and children.
Through a video statement, the foundation highlighted India’s progress, including the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan 2026 and the 2025 Prince Michael International Road Safety Award, and detailed Project SADAK’s efforts—distributing 27,000 reflective stickers, launching a children’s road safety book, and advocating for Safe School Zones.
It warned that road accidents can cause sudden poverty, urging the UN and member states to prioritize road safety as a human rights issue.
