Metal Logic is building a clean steel smelter in Western Australia, using modular tech to process low-grade ore and produce one million tonnes of low-carbon steel annually by late 2026.
Metal Logic has acquired 1,000 hectares in Western Australia’s Pilbara region near major rail lines to build its first industrial-scale clean steel smelter, with initial capacity of one million tonnes per year.
Using Australian-manufactured modular units, the facility will deploy grade-agnostic, high-efficiency technology to process lower-grade iron ores previously deemed uneconomical, unlocking up to $400 per tonne in onshore value.
The smelter, set for late 2026 deployment, supports WA’s green steel goals and local manufacturing policies, enabling traceable, low-carbon steel for infrastructure.
The project aims to create regional jobs, boost domestic manufacturing, and increase tax revenue.
