A man died in a crash on Idaho Highway 3 when his truck crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a semi-truck.

A 65-year-old Saint Maries man died in a fatal crash on State Highway 3 near milepost 86, just north of the town, on Thursday morning, March 13, 2026. The man, driving a 2025 Toyota Tacoma northbound, lost control on a curve, crossed the center line, and collided with a southbound 1990 Peterbilt semi-truck operated by a 48-year-old man from Saint Regis, Montana. The Tacoma driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and his next of kin have been notified. The semi-truck driver was not injured and was not cited. Highway 3 was closed for about 2.5 hours while authorities investigated. The Idaho State Police, along with local agencies, are probing the cause, with weather conditions including snow and rain showers reported.
