Kenyan court pauses auction of three Karen properties tied to defaulted $15M loan, allowing former cabinet secretary Raphael Tuju to appeal.
Former Kenyan Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has secured a temporary stay from Kenya’s High Court, allowing him to appeal a March 9 ruling that dismissed his bid to halt the auction of three Karen properties tied to a Sh1.9 billion loan default.
The loan, linked to his company Dari Limited, was originally for land development but defaulted after construction stalled.
The East Africa Development Bank (EADB) sought recovery, backed by a prior UK court judgment recognizing over $15 million in debt.
Tuju claims the bank blocked funding and investment, alleging corruption, but Kenyan courts have consistently ruled against him.
The High Court’s latest order, pending a March 17 hearing, suspends the auction temporarily while the appeal proceeds.
