Iranian state media retracted reports of Supreme Leader Khamenei's widow's death after his son's public statement, confirming she is alive following a U.S.-Israel strike that killed other family members.
Iranian state media confirmed on March 12, 2026, that Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, widow of late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, is alive, retracting earlier reports of her death following a February 28 U.S.-Israel strike on Tehran that killed Khamenei.
The correction emerged after Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Supreme Leader, made his first public statement without mentioning his mother’s death.
The attack also killed several family members, including his wife, sister, and grandchildren.
