India’s trade minister met global leaders to boost manufacturing ties and expand export access through new trade deals.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with global industry leaders, including Lockheed Martin’s Greg Ulmer and HSBC’s David Quarrey, to strengthen India’s manufacturing and trade ties, aiming to deepen integration into global supply chains.
At the AAHAR International Fair, Goyal highlighted India’s progress in agri- and marine exports, citing 25 metric tons of Assam’s GI-tagged Joha rice shipped to the UK and Italy.
He stated India now has preferential market access to two-thirds of global trade through nine new Free Trade Agreements in 3.5 years, opening markets in 38 developed nations, and expressed confidence that farmers, fishermen, and small businesses will benefit from expanded export opportunities.
