India approves $230M in disaster relief for six states hit by 2025 floods, cyclones, and cloudbursts.
The Indian government has approved Rs 1,912.99 crore in additional disaster relief funds for six regions—Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Jammu and Kashmir—following severe weather in 2025, including floods, cyclones, and cloudbursts.
The funds, approved by a high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are drawn from the National Disaster Response Fund and require a 50% state contribution from their State Disaster Response Funds.
This brings total central disaster support in 2025–26 to over Rs 24,000 crore, including funds for response, mitigation, and preparedness across 28 states and union territories.
