Eutelsat ends satellite deals with Russia over AT1 failure and AT2 move, cutting fleet to 31 with minor financial impact.
Eutelsat has ended its capacity agreements with Russia’s Express AT1 and AT2 satellites following AT1’s failure at 56° East and the planned relocation of AT2 from 140° East.
The move, which reduces Eutelsat’s geostationary satellite fleet from 33 to 31, has a minimal financial impact, with a low single-digit million euro revenue decrease in 2025–26 and no effect on EBITDA or financial targets.
The decision comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Eutelsat’s ties to Russia due to sanctions over the Ukraine conflict.
