Cornwall police agree to 17.8% wage hike by 2030 and opt out of federal gun buyback.
The Cornwall Police Service Board and its Senior Officers’ Association have ratified a four-year contract effective January 1, 2026, delivering a 17.8% cumulative wage increase by 2030 through raises of 6% in 2026, 3.75% in 2027, and 3.5% in 2028 and 2029.
The agreement, which covers senior officers and civilian leaders, aligns with comparable Ontario police services and follows a similar deal for lower-ranking staff.
No major benefit changes were made.
The board also announced it will not participate in the federal assault-style firearm buyback program, citing operational priorities, though residents can still surrender banned firearms independently before October 30, 2026.
