Burlington International Airport opens its $68M expanded terminal on March 31, 2026, with larger gates, sustainable features, and improved passenger access.
Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport is set to open its $68 million terminal expansion, Project NexT, on March 31, 2026, after a two-year construction project.
The new North Terminal features four larger gates, improved passenger flow, geothermal heating and cooling, a glassy timber-framed concourse, and a public observation deck with scenic views.
The upgrade, funded mostly by federal grants including a $34 million earmark by former Sen. Patrick Leahy, supports larger aircraft, enhances sustainability, and boosts regional connectivity.
The terminal includes new amenities like a children’s play area and a fireplace lounge but no food vendors in the new concourse.
The project strengthens the airport’s role in Vermont’s economy, supporting roughly 5,650 jobs.
