Bangladesh’s interim government’s 133 ordinances presented to new parliament for 30-day approval.
On March 12, 2026, Bangladesh’s Law Minister Md Asaduzzaman presented 133 ordinances issued by the interim government during its 18-month tenure to the newly convened 13th Parliament, as required by the constitution.
These temporary laws, enacted under Article 93(1) during parliamentary recess, must be approved within 30 days to remain valid.
The ordinances will now be reviewed by a 14-member special committee and, if pursued, drafted into bills for cabinet and Law Ministry approval before parliamentary consideration.
The session also marked the swearing-in of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, with President urging political unity and an obituary reference honoring former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.
