Amanda Meadowcroft and her son Bradley Couzins were sentenced to prison for smuggling 14kg of cocaine into the UK via Manchester Airport in 2024.
Amanda Meadowcroft, 53, and her son Bradley Couzins, 34, were sentenced to seven and seven and a half years in prison for smuggling 14kg of low-purity cocaine into the UK through Manchester Airport in April 2024.
The drugs were discovered in luggage carried by Meadowcroft and a friend upon their return from the Dominican Republic.
Prosecutors said Couzins orchestrated the operation, arranging travel and directing his mother, while a seized phone showed messages suggesting coercion.
Meadowcroft, who had a prior suspended sentence for cannabis importation, admitted packing one bag but denied involvement in the other.
Couzins was later arrested for assaulting an emergency worker while trying to destroy his phone.
Authorities described the case as a coordinated effort to disrupt drug trafficking networks.
