Starting April 2026, Windows 11 will roll out Xbox Mode, a controller-optimized, full-screen gaming interface available on all PC types, offering a console-like experience with simplified game access, library browsing, and seamless transitions between apps.
The feature, tested since late 2025 and inspired by the ROG Xbox Ally, disables desktop elements to improve performance and integrates with Xbox Play Anywhere, enabling cross-device progress and access to over 1,500 games.
It marks a key step in Microsoft’s push to unify its PC and Xbox ecosystems, with future plans for the 2027 Project Helix console to run both PC and Xbox games.
