Owen Ryan, a Tipperary man, was released from prison after serving 240 days for contempt of court following his repeated return to a repossessed home in Kilfeacle, now owned by Mars Capital Finance DAC due to an unpaid €402,000 mortgage.
The property was seized in July 2024, and Ryan was jailed in July 2025 for defying court orders to leave.
Mars confirmed the house had been sold and no longer sought his detention, leading to his release.
However, the company later reported someone was again inside the home and refusing to answer the door.
The judge suggested changing the locks with gardaí present and arresting Ryan if necessary, stressing the court’s authority must be upheld.
The court will remain updated on developments.
