A Lincoln woman died from alcohol abuse after secretly ordering large amounts via food delivery apps, prompting her sister to push for stricter online alcohol regulations.
A 35-year-old Lincoln woman died in July 2023 from alcohol-related causes after reportedly spending up to £1,500 monthly on alcohol delivered via apps like Just Eat, Deliveroo, and Uber Eats, her sister says.
The sister, an NHS worker, revealed the deceased had long struggled with alcoholism and was secretly ordering large quantities through delivery platforms, unaware to family.
She is now campaigning for stricter regulations, including age verification, purchase limits, and monitoring systems, arguing that apps enable unchecked access to alcohol unlike physical venues.
Despite platform policies, she says current safeguards are insufficient.
Her petition has gained over 2,000 signatures.
