King Charles honored WWII veteran Colin Bell, last surviving Mosquito pilot, with his 1945 DFC citation at Buckingham Palace.
King Charles III honored 105-year-old WWII veteran Flight Lieutenant Colin Bell, the last surviving Mosquito bomber pilot, at Buckingham Palace by presenting him with the citation for his 1945 Distinguished Flying Cross, originally awarded by King George VI.
Bell, who flew 50 missions over Germany with RAF’s 608 Squadron, including 13 to Berlin, shared his memoir *Bloody Dangerous*, detailing dangerous encounters with jet fighters, engine failures, fuel shortages, ice, and a near-explosion that injured him and his navigator.
The meeting in the Chinese Drawing Room recognized Bell’s bravery and service during the war.
