A commercial LPG shortage brought on by disturbances in the Strait of Hormuz hindered restaurant operations across the country, resulting in a 4-5% decline in Indian food delivery stocks Swiggy and Eternal. Due to delayed cylinder deliveries caused by supply chain problems affecting Middle Eastern imports, many kitchens were forced to reduce their hours or temporarily close. Despite recent strong growth, the shortage threatens to lower food delivery volumes in the fourth quarter because most restaurants only have two to six days' worth of inventory and no strategic reserves.
