Human Rights Watch demands Vietnam release two political prisoners, Le Huu Minh Tuan and Can Thi Theu, due to severe, untreated health issues.
Human Rights Watch is urging Vietnam to release political prisoners Le Huu Minh Tuan and Can Thi Theu, who face severe health issues and have been denied proper medical care.
Tuan, a 37-year-old journalist jailed since 2020 on anti-state charges, suffers from internal injuries, while Theu, 64, has experienced dizziness, tremors, and balance problems since early 2026 and has been repeatedly denied hospital visits.
Both are among many peaceful activists imprisoned for dissent.
The group highlights ongoing prison abuses, including deaths from inadequate treatment, and calls on Vietnam’s trade partners to pressure Hanoi to comply with international medical care standards and release those with urgent health needs.
