flag The Hall of Fame approved Andre Dawson’s request to replace his Montreal Expos cap with a blank one, recognizing his preference to honor all teams he played for.

The Baseball Hall of Fame has allowed Andre Dawson to recast his plaque with a blank cap, ending a years-long request to remove the Montreal Expos logo. The unanimous decision by the Hall’s Board of Directors acknowledges that Dawson, elected in 2010, should have had the option to choose a blank cap at the time, as the policy was not in place until 2014. Dawson, who played 11 seasons with the Expos before winning NL MVP with the Cubs in 1987, said he felt a stronger connection to Chicago and wanted to honor all teams he played for. No other changes will be made to his plaque.
