Dr. Alexandra Estrella is the top candidate to lead Gwinnett County Schools, the state’s largest district, following a national search.

Dr. Alexandra Estrella has been named the sole finalist to become superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools, the state’s largest district. A veteran educator with 26 years of experience, she currently leads Norwalk Public Schools in Connecticut and previously worked in New York City’s Department of Education, where she founded Esperanza Preparatory Academy. Her selection followed a nationwide search and extensive community input. The board praised her data-driven leadership and record in improving student achievement. She will succeed interim superintendent Dr. Al Taylor, with the final hiring decision pending board approval.
