The Patiala House Court in New Delhi heard arguments on March 12, 2026, in a criminal defamation case filed by Priya Sachdev Kapur against her sister-in-law Mandhira Kapur Smith and Pooja Chaudhary.
Mandhira sought production of documents from Priya, arguing the alleged defamatory statements should be viewed in context, but Priya’s counsel opposed the request, calling it premature at the notice stage and irrelevant since the documents relate to public property and trusts.
The court granted time for Pooja Chaudhary’s counsel to respond and scheduled the next hearing for March 30.
The complaint alleges a coordinated campaign across podcasts, social media, and interviews to damage Priya’s reputation during ongoing legal disputes involving Sunjay Kapur’s estate.
