Belize has launched a national robotics initiative, becoming the first country to recognize robotics as a sport, aiming to boost digital skills among students aged 12 to 18.
The Ministry of E-Governance, Robotics Federation of Belize, and VEX Robotics signed a pact to expand robotics education from primary to tertiary levels using 14 Digital Connect Centers as training hubs.
The program uses a “train the trainer” model, provides curriculum and robots, and plans to issue workforce skills transcripts in collaboration with education and labor ministries.
