Air India seeks temporary pilot rule changes due to longer flights from Middle East airspace rerouting.
Air India has asked the DGCA to temporarily relax pilot duty rules, seeking to extend flying time to 11.5 hours and duty periods to 14.75 hours, due to longer flight durations caused by rerouting around closed airspace in Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq.
The changes, prompted by ongoing Middle East tensions and a DGCA advisory to avoid 11 high-risk countries, aim to address operational challenges from extended routes over the Arabian Sea and Africa.
The airline has canceled flights amid the strain, and while its request is under review, no similar proposal has been made by IndiGo.
