Adam Steen, former Iowa Department of Administrative Services director, has officially entered the 2026 Republican gubernatorial race, filing 9,602 valid signatures from all 99 counties to meet state requirements.
He is the third confirmed candidate, joining U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra, former lawmaker Brad Sherman, and others.
Steen, a conservative evangelical minister, emphasized grassroots support, broad appeal across demographics, and endorsements from figures like Bob Vander Plaats and Steve Deace.
Despite raising significantly less than rivals Feenstra and Zach Lahn, he plans TV ads and aims to win the primary outright with at least 35% of the vote, or face a GOP convention.
The primary is set for June 2, 2026.
