Two Queen’s University professors, Katherine McKittrick and Margaret Moore, have won the 2026 Killam Prize, Canada’s top research honor.
McKittrick, a Gender Studies scholar and Canada Research Chair in Black Studies, received the humanities award for her work on Black studies, liberation studies, and cultural geography, focusing on Black livingness and diasporic placemaking.
Moore, a political studies professor with a philosophy cross-appointment, earned the social sciences prize for her pioneering research on rights to territory, impacting Indigenous rights, law, and international relations.
Each recipient receives $100,000.
The Killam Trust, which administers the prize, has awarded over $1 billion to support research in Canada and globally since its founding.
