A funeral for North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Steven J. Perry, killed in a March 1 head-on crash involving a wrong-way driver, will be held at noon on March 11 at The Shepherd’s Church in Cary, with a livestream available.
The service will be followed by a procession through Cary and Durham to Beechwood Cemetery.
Perry, 30, a Durham native and former North Carolina Central University football player, had served for nearly seven years and was a new father.
The crash involved Melshawn Moore, 39, of Kinston, who had three prior DWI convictions and was reportedly under the influence.
A memorial has formed outside the church, and law enforcement officers paid tribute during the procession from Durham to Raleigh.
