Pakistan’s judiciary has adopted a four-day workweek from Monday to Thursday to conserve fuel and cut costs amid a crisis worsened by the Middle East conflict.
The National Judicial Policy Making Committee, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, approved reduced petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL) allocations—50% for judges, 25% for officials—and banned extra protocol and security vehicles.
Courts will operate with adjusted staffing on weekends, encourage video-link hearings, and implement rotational attendance to minimize commuting.
