flag Nigeria to roll out 100,000 CNG kits to cut transport costs, with stations building nationwide.

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has ordered the nationwide rollout of 100,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion kits to reduce transportation costs amid soaring fuel prices. The initiative, led by the Presidential Initiative on CNG, will allow vehicles and tricycles to switch from petrol to cheaper CNG. Kits are set for distribution within two to three weeks, supported by 77 CNG stations under construction across the country, with priority on major corridors from Lokoja to Maiduguri. Operational stations are already active in Kano, and the government is partnering with manufacturers to boost local assembly of CNG and electric vehicles, aiming to create jobs and expand clean energy infrastructure.
