A Montana man was arrested for firing a handgun at another vehicle during a road rage incident on Highway 191.
Jeremiah Thompson, 48, of Columbus, Montana, was arrested on March 6, 2026, after allegedly firing a .9mm handgun at another vehicle during a road rage incident on Highway 191 near West Yellowstone.
Authorities say Thompson made an illegal pass in a no-passing zone, forcing the other driver off the road.
The victim reported being shot at, provided the truck’s trailer plate number, and was followed by another truck driver who witnessed the incident.
Deputies stopped Thompson near Windy Pass Trail, where they found a spent shell casing on the road and another inside the cab, along with the handgun.
Thompson admitted to the illegal pass and firing one round.
He faces felony charges of criminal endangerment and assault with a weapon and remains in custody at the Gallatin County Detention Center.
