Marie man, Andrew Nolan, has been charged with manslaughter and trafficking in fentanyl after a 35-year-old man, Joshua Tauvette, died from fentanyl intoxication in August 2023.
Police say Tauvette purchased the drug from Nolan the day before his death, and drug paraphernalia found at the scene tested positive for fentanyl, confirmed by Health Canada.
This marks the third time since 2023 that someone in the area has faced criminal charges in a drug-related fatality, reflecting a more aggressive prosecutorial approach.
Nolan was arrested on March 9 and remains in custody.
