A man died after deputies shot him in Green Valley following a disturbance and failed attempts to subdue him.

A man died early Tuesday in Green Valley, Shawano County, after deputies responded to a disturbance at a home on State Highway 22. Officers found a man locked in a bathroom who claimed to have a gun and refused to comply. After non-lethal measures failed and the man advanced toward them, one deputy fired, striking the man. He died at a local hospital. No one else was injured. Body camera footage is being used in the investigation, which is led by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation. The involved deputy is on administrative leave.
