Maharashtra’s Jalyukt Shivar 2.0 project boosts water security by desilting water bodies and increasing groundwater recharge, benefiting over 1.2 million people since 2013.
Jalyukt Shivar 2.0, a Maharashtra government and The Art of Living partnership, is enhancing water security by desilting water bodies, deepening channels, and boosting groundwater recharge to increase infiltration from 6% to 25–35%.
Since 2013, it has removed over 290 million cubic meters of silt, saved 16.7 billion liters of water, and supported over 1.2 million people with improved agriculture and flood resilience.
The initiative, recognized with national awards, is expanding across drought-prone areas through science-based, community-driven efforts to ensure long-term water sustainability.
