India's top court warns government to act within two weeks on benefits for injured military cadets or face summoning defense and finance secretaries.
The Supreme Court of India warned on March 10, 2026, that defence and finance secretaries may be summoned if the government fails to decide within two weeks on extending monetary benefits to military cadets discharged due to training injuries.
The court, led by Justices BV Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan, expressed frustration over inaction despite multiple extensions and recommendations from service chiefs.
It urged immediate implementation of financial support, medical aid, education, and resettlement, noting the Finance Act 2026 offers a timely opportunity to fund these measures.
The matter was adjourned to March 24.
