India’s cooperative-run ride-hailing platform Bharat Taxi will expand to all major cities and talukas within two to three years, the government announced on March 11, 2026.
Launched by eight national cooperative organizations including Amul, the service aims to empower drivers by offering ownership, higher income, and job security through a zero-commission, profit-sharing model.
Currently operating in Delhi-NCR and select Gujarat cities, it has already onboarded 400,000 drivers.
The platform, integrated with Delhi Police for safety, is part of a broader push to strengthen cooperatives and support informal workers with sustainable, community-owned employment.
