At Mobile World Congress 2026, Huawei's Yang Chaobin emphasized that 5G-A and the U6GHz spectrum are essential for supporting the rapid growth of AI, calling for industry collaboration to expand deployment, boost symmetric bandwidth to 10 Gbps downlink and 1 Gbps uplink, and ensure low-latency, secure connectivity. He highlighted 5G-A as a bridge to 6G, with standards expected by 2029, and urged scaling 5G-A commercially amid a 300-fold surge in global daily AI token usage. Yang also addressed the digital divide, noting 300 million people lack mobile coverage, and cited Huawei’s RuralStar solution, which has connected 170 million people across 80 countries through education, finance, and healthcare initiatives.
