Himachal Pradesh launched robotic surgery in government hospitals, offering affordable advanced care and upgrading health infrastructure.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated robotic surgery at Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla, expanding access to advanced healthcare across multiple government hospitals. The state has performed around 150 robotic surgeries in the past eight months, with plans to extend the service to medical colleges in Shimla, Mandi, and Hamirpur, making Himachal one of the first North Indian states to offer this technology publicly. Procedures will cost ₹30,000 in general wards and ₹50,000 in special wards, significantly lower than private hospitals. The government also plans to upgrade health infrastructure with new MRI machines and modern labs. Sukhu criticized the BJP for failing to support disaster relief and the state’s reduced Revenue Deficit Grant, accusing the party of neglecting key issues.
