Google launches free tool to help users reduce personal info visibility in search results.
Google has launched a free tool called Results About You that helps users reduce the visibility of their personal information in search results.
By linking a Google account, users can input specific details to monitor, and Google will notify them when those details appear online, allowing them to request removals.
The tool removes links from Google Search but does not delete content from websites.
It also lets users refresh outdated results if information has been updated.
While it cannot stop data from being sold after breaches or prevent determined individuals from finding information, it helps remove easily accessible personal data, reducing exposure.
Google says data submitted isn’t used for other purposes, and over 10 million people have used the tool since its 2022 launch.
