A Delhi court has granted interim protection from arrest to Umesh Chandra Padala, a T-shirt designer from Andhra Pradesh, in connection with a protest during the February 20, 2026, AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam.
Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal ordered Padala to cooperate with the Delhi Police investigation, which is being transferred to the Crime Branch, and mandated that authorities provide seven days’ notice before any arrest.
Padala is accused of designing protest shirts used by Indian Youth Congress members who disrupted the event, leading to the arrest of 14 individuals, including party president Udai Bhanu Chib.
Anticipatory bail pleas for two others remain pending.
The case is ongoing.
